Beach Sweep 2021

Saturday, September 18th, 2021 from 8:00am to 5:00pm (CT)

About

Our 32nd Annual Beach Sweep will look different this year due to the effects Hurricane Ida and Covid-19 have had on our community. There will be no in-person event or gathering for Beach Sweep 2021. But it's more important than ever to get out and clean our streets, parks, yards, and storm drains that are filled with debris. Be a part of Beach Sweep this weekend and help restore our community while you also put litter in its place. We still encourage you to register to receive approved volunteer hours and track your trash if you can!

Beach Sweep is the biggest community cleanup in Southeastern Louisiana. Last year we picked up trash from our streets, catch basins, and waterways around the basin. All throughout the region, we can care for the neighborhoods and areas that drain into the Pontchartrain Basin. We'll clean curbs, ditches, and storm drains on city streets and rural roadways. We encourage individuals and smalls groups to safely volunteer during the weekend of September 17th-19th. Help end litter in Louisiana while being a part of the International Coastal Cleanup!

We ask that volunteers adhere to the guidelines put in place by the City of New Orleans and State of Louisiana while participating. Volunteers are encouraged to participate with their families or in socially-distanced small groups. We ask that volunteers tag a photo of themselves and/or others freshening their garden either front or backyard or hauling the neighborhood litter to the trash with the hashtag #BeachSweep2021 on any social media outlet.
