Reading Partners

About

Reading Partners, an education nonprofit that teams up with under-resourced elementary schools to provide one-on-one literacy tutoring to students reading below grade level.

Reading Partners mission is to help children become lifelong readers by empowering communities to provide individualized instruction with measurable results. We do this by bringing in community volunteers to work with students once a week, one hour each week (we welcome more!), for the course of a semester or school year.

Volunteers work with one student for at least one semester, using a highly structured curriculum that is proven to work. No previous experience is required, as all initial training and ongoing support is provided by a full-time staff Site Coordinator, who supervises volunteers and acts as the link between our program and the school. Reading Partners serves over 200 elementary school sites and 11,000+ students nationwide, in 13 different regions throughout the country. Each year we hire approximately 300 dedicated AmeriCorps Site Coordinators, Literacy Leads, and Volunteer Coordinators to make a difference at these school sites.
