Nature and Purpose of Agency
St. Mary's mission is to improve the health and quality of life for children with special needs and life-limiting conditions and their families. St. Mary's is New York's largest and most experienced provider of long-term care to children with medically complex conditions and New York's City's only post-acute care facility for children.

 

Tasks Available for Students

Volunteers are needed for recreational activities, homework help, socialization, medical day care, rehabilitation helper and more.

 

Time Requirements

<>·        <>20-30 students

<>·        <>Monday through Friday 9am-2pm 4pm-6pm.

<>o   <>(*No activity between 2-3pm)

<>·        <>Saturday 10am-3pm

<>·        <>Sunday 11am-3pm

 

Student Awareness/Special Instructions

Please bring a copy of your medical records to your first day of service.  Copies of medical records can be obtained by bringing the memo from the AS-L Office to release copies of the medical records to the Health Office in DaSilva Hall. 

 

Students should contact Priscilla Martin to sign up as soon as possible to insure that you will be placed.

7 train to Flushing IRT to Main Street Flushing. – (BUS) Q13 Bus (Fort Totten Bus) to 29th Ave. & Bell Blvd. Walk East (Toward water) on 29th Ave. to 216th Street and Hospital entrance.

Driving Directions

 

From Manhattan Midtown Tunnel to LIE East (495 East); Exit Clearview Expressway North (295 North). Proceed on Clearview to Exit 6A, 35th Ave. At first light, turn right onto 35th Ave. Turn left at the third light onto Bell Blvd. Turn right onto 29th Ave. and proceed down 29th Ave. to Hospital entrance / parking.

From Long Island LIE West (495 West) to Clearview Expressway North (295 North). Proceed on Clearview to Exit 6A, 35th Ave. At first light, turn right onto 35th Ave. Turn left at the third light onto Bell Blvd. Turn right onto 29th Ave. and proceed down 29th Ave. to Hospital entrance / parking.

From Westchester / Bronx I 95 South (or Hutchinson River Parkway South) to Throgs Neck Bridge; Proceed onto Clearview Expressway South. Take first exit, 26th Ave. Turn left at the light at end of exit ramp onto 26th Ave. Proceed to Bell Blvd and make a right. Then turn left onto 28th Ave, Turn right onto 216th Street and proceed to Hospital entrance / parking.

Brooklyn Belt Parkway to Cross Island Parkway North. Continue on Cross Island to Northern Blvd. West Exit. Proceed on Northern Blvd. and turn right onto Bell Blvd. Proceed on Bell on 29th Ave. Turn right onto 29th Ave. and proceed down 29th Ave. to Hospital entrance / parking. Port Washington Branch to Bayside Station and exit onto Bell Blvd. Q13 Bus on Bell Blvd. to 29th Ave. Walk East on 29th Ave. to 216th street and Hospital entrance. (Taxi service also available at Bayside Station Platform.)
