In our session the student I am partnered with asked for quick ways to help practice and expand her vocabulary in English, so I showed her some fun games provided by the New York Times. We played Wordle which is a game where you have six tries to guess a random five letter word in English. It was a cool challenge because the game forces you to not only think about your vocabulary, but also spelling. We also discussed holidays plans and travel aspirations, as we both aspire to visit Vienna and Amsterdam.
Further diving into literary discussions surrounding cultural and racial diversity, while allowing the Ukrainian student I was assigned to practice communicating in English.
In our third session we discussed my conversation partner's time study abroad in Poland as well as how we celebrate Halloween in the U.S. versus Ukraine where it is not as popular.
