On April 14, all AmeriCorps NCCC members were unexpectedly removed from service and sent home with no warning. And on April 25, over 1,000 AmeriCorps programs were immediately terminated, leaving nearly 30,000 AmeriCorps State and National and AmeriCorps VISTA members suddenly without a living stipend and other benefits, such as healthcare. As a result, many of them are now in need of financial assistance to address housing, food, transportation, and/or health emergencies.
Building on the success of 15 state-based emergency funds that support AmeriCorps members with emergencies during their terms of service, America's Service Commissions (ASC) has launched a national emergency assistance fund for AmeriCorps members. But we can’t do it alone. We need your support.
Contributions to the National AmeriCorps Member Emergency Fund will initially provide financial assistance to AmeriCorps members recently removed from service as they determine their next steps. Making your gift a recurring donation will provide future support to address unexpected emergencies faced by the thousands of AmeriCorps members that serve unmet needs in our states and communities each year.
Please note that 95% of your donation will go directly to members and 5% is retained for administrative costs to manage the fund.

America's Service Commissions (ASC) is the nonprofit, nonpartisan national association for the 52 governor-led state and territorial service commissions. ASC leads and elevates the service commission network, provides training and technical assistance to commissions and AmeriCorps programs, and promotes and represents all streams of national and community service.
State and territorial service commissions provide oversight to 90% of all AmeriCorps State and National funded programs, support state and federal disaster response and recovery, and lead state-based volunteer initiatives.
AmeriCorps members respond to disasters, assist veterans, provide support to students, deliver meals to seniors, and so much more. AmeriCorps programs are evidence-based and evaluated for effectiveness, and studies show as much as a $34 return on investment (ROI) for every federal dollar invested.
