Spring Into Action: Join UNR's Earth Day Clean-Up in the Reno Area!

The university is hosting a community service event in celebration of Earth Day, bringing together 200 student volunteers to work with local organizations and make a positive impact on the community. This university-wide initiative offers an inclusive opportunity for all students to engage in service, leadership, and community-building. This year’s focus will address critical local issues in Nevada, including education, environmental sustainability, and social inequality. Students will collaborate with non-profits such as KTMB, Bethel AME Church, Catholic Charities, and Kiwanis, gaining hands-on experience while supporting meaningful causes.

The event will also include group discussions, volunteer projects, and reflection, providing students the chance to explore themes of volunteerism, philanthropy, and community engagement. Additionally, an after social will be providing food, games and more!

This event is organized by the Center for Student Engagement and Fraternity and Sorority Life.

• Closed-toed shoes (for farm work!)
• Water, sunscreen, and a hat to stay comfortable and protected

Event Scheduled:

Transportation & Briefing:

12:00 PM: Student Arrival & Check-In
Meet at Joe Plaza to check in with other student volunteers, receive an event briefing, and get assigned to your group.

12:40 PM: Transportation to Volunteer Sites
Depart from Lawlor Events Center pickup location to your designated volunteer site.

Community Service Time

1:00 PM: Arrival & Community Partner Briefing
Volunteers will arrive at their assigned service sites and receive a brief overview from community partners.

2:30 PM: Group Photo & Assessments
Gather for a group photo, then complete your volunteer assessments.

3:00 PM: Departure from Site
Head back to the pickup point, with a reminder about the post-event social in front of the KC.

Post-Event Social (Optional)

3:00 PM: Final Thank You & Reflection
Join us for a brief closing, gratitude for your participation, and time for social games and food.

5:00 PM: Event End
