Become a volunteer literacy coach!

Become a Volunteer Literacy Coach with the Literacy Center of West Michigan and help an adult learner build the reading and language skills they need to reach their goals. With just a couple of hours a week, you can make a real difference—no teaching experience required.

Here’s how to get started:

1. Sign up for a Volunteer Information Session – Offered regularly online and in person.

2. Attend a Training – Learn how to support your learner with the tools and strategies we provide.

3. Get Matched – We’ll pair you with an adult learner based on your availability and preferences.

4. Start Meeting Weekly – Meet in person or virtually, with ongoing support from our staff.
