About

Please join us for our October EcoHour on Tuesday, Oct 16th at Teaism Penn Quarter. This month's EcoHour will feature Analisa Freitas, Campaign Coordinator for the Peoples Climate Movement. Come learn more about how the People's Climate movement orchestrates large-scale nationwide marches for climate justice and what organizing Latino communities around grassroots advocacy looks like. Join us as we discuss what true representation in the environmental movement means. We hope to see you there!

Analisa Freitas is the PCM 2018 Campaign Coordinator for the Peoples Climate Movement (PCM). She has been with PCM since May 2018. Analisa's past work has revolved around developing environmental connections, leadership, and advocacy pathways for Latinos from the grassroots to the grasstops as a Community Organizer for the Tuolumne River Trust, a regional watershed organization; as the Digital & Volunteer Coordinator for Latino Outdoors, a national outings and excursion network; as the Project Coordinator of Voces Verdes, a national Latino grasstops advocacy program under the Natural Resources Defense Council's Center for Policy Advocacy; and most recently as the Bronx & Climate Organizer for Faith in New York, the New York affiliate of Faith in Action National (formerly the PICO National Network).

She is a proud Senior Fellow of the Environmental Leadership Program, a Natural Leader for the Children & Nature Network's Natural Leader Network, and a Wisdom Council member for the Earth Guardian's international network.

Analisa earned her Bachelor of Arts in Cultural Studies at Sarah Lawrence College and Lehman College in New York. Additionally, she did a year of field work studying sociology and cultural anthropology as a part of a Peruvian Social Realities curriculum at Pontificia Universidad Católica del Perú in Lima.

She is excited to have found a home for her deep commitment to ensuring that our environment and our humanity are deeply connected, and to uphold PCM's alliance-building principles, as well as widen PCM's reach and deepen our impact at the local level.
