2026 Texan Move In - Friday August 14th

 Thank you for signing up to serve as a volunteer for Texan Move-In 2026! This event marks a major milestone for our newest students and their families, and your participation helps set the tone for an incredible start to their journey as Tarleton Texans.

Your willingness to give your time, energy, and spirit ensures a warm and welcoming experience for all new students. We are truly grateful for your commitment, and we’re excited to work alongside you during one of the most impactful events of the year.

Volunteer Shifts and Expectations

1. All volunteer shifts are three (3) hours long. Please plan to arrive 30 minutes early to allow time for parking, walking to check-in, and receiving your assignment.
2. If you are signed up for consecutive shifts, you do not need to return to the Engineering Building between shifts. You may remain at your assigned post.
3. Volunteers may be reassigned based on staffing needs. While we will try to keep groups together, you may be separated from your department or organization.
4. Bring a positive attitude and be ready to jump in where needed. Your energy and encouragement are vital in creating a welcoming environment for students and families.

Parking Instructions

Primary Volunteer Parking:

• Lot P36 – Behind Library/ Library Expansion
• Lot P38 – Behind O.A. Grant Building

Overflow Parking:

• Behind Newman Catholic Church (900 W. Washington Street) – within walking distance of check-in.

Please plan to arrive 30 minutes prior to your scheduled shift to allow enough time to park and check in. A parking map is attached to this email. You can also explore  the campus at: https://map.tarleton.edu

Volunteer Check-In

Check-in will take place at the Engineering Building, located near the intersection of Lillian Street and Washington Street.

Look for directional signage, including an inflatable tube man and a purple Texan Move-In arch.

At check-in, volunteers will:

1. Receive your Texan Move-In volunteer t-shirt, which must be worn during your shift.
2. Be grouped with a team and assigned to a residence hall.
3. Be shuttled to your designated location.
4. Check in via GivePulse to track your participation and hours.

After Your Shift – Return Transportation

Once your shift ends, you may either:

• Wait at a pickup location to be shuttled back to the Engineering Building/volunteer parking, or
• Walk back on your own if you prefer not to wait.

Shuttle pickup zones include:

• TSC Roundabout – for Heritage, Legacy, Legends, Centennial, and Integrity
• Welcome Center Parking Lot – for Hunewell & Hunewell Annex
• Wisdom Gym Parking Lot – for Traditions North & South 

**Please note that there may be a wait time for return transportation since the vehicles are in use.**

What to Wear & Bring

Required:

• Texan Move-In t-shirt (provided at check-in)
• Closed-toe shoes (no sandals or slides)

Recommended:

• Lightweight, breathable clothing
• Refillable water bottle (hydration stations will be available)
• Hat and sunglasses
• Sunscreen (also available at check-in)
• Light snacks if needed

Health & Safety Reminders:

Your well-being is a priority. Please take care of yourself and your fellow volunteers:

1. Stay hydrated – water stations will be available across campus
2. Use sunscreen – provided at check-in or bring your own
3. Know your limits – if you feel overheated or unwell, notify a staff member
4. Look for staff in different-colored Move-In shirts – they’ll be available to assist at all locations
