About
Celebrate Love Your Park Day at Pennypack Environmental Center as we tidy up around the outside of the center, tuck our garden beds in for the winter, install storm drain markers, and more. We will break volunteers into teams, so you can choose your own clean-up experience.
This season we also welcome Drexel for a microplastics clean-up. (More information to come.)
While you are here, visit our nature center exhibits and live animals, view the gardens, walk down to the bird bind, or relax on the patio and watch the birds.
Pennypack Environmental Center resides on the unceded, ancestral land of the Lenape people, and was originally dedicated as a bird sanctuary in 1958. Today, the Center has an outdoor amphitheater, exhibits, a reference library and campfire and picnic areas. We provide low to no cost programming for all. Learn more about the various school, public and camp programs at the Pennypack Environmental Center at https://linktr.ee/explore_pec.
Volunteering at Pennypack is best for teens and adults. Children 8+ are welcome but must be supervised at all times by a registered adult.
Wear long sleeves, pants, and close-toed shoes. Bug repellant and sun screen encouraged.
Bring a refillable water bottle and snack.
PLEASE NOTE:
Everything is subject to change. Register to stay up-to-date.
Programs are outdoors in all-weather. We recommend dressing for the weather, physical activity, and ticks. We encourage wearing tick repellant and doing a thorough tick check after outdoor adventures. Ticks don't hibernate. TICK CHECK upon return and every day after nature play.
The center, bathrooms, and picnic areas are all accessible, however, the trails are rocky and uneven.
Free parking in the Center's lot and street parking along Verree Road. There is a short walk on paved surface from the parking lot to the Center.
Photos will be taken of participants during this program for use by the Pennypack Environmental Center and Philadelphia Parks and Recreation. If you wish to opt out, please let us know before the program.
