About
One fish, two fish, red fish, Bluegill (Lepomis macrochirus)!
Come join us on Saturday, September 26th from 9am-11am as we get to know, and clean-up, Williamson Creek Greenbelt just east of I-35. This is a spot on the creek where water is constantly flowing, allowing native species of fish, birds, and amphibians to live and thrive.
But, this fragile ecosystem is constantly under attack by the amount of trash, debris, and toxic chemicals that flow not just from upstream, but also due to being so close to I-35.
Let's clean up and play a game! Who can see the most fish while cleaning? How about birds? Turtles? We will be cleaning up both in the creek and along the riparian corridor. We would love your help!
Here's what you will need:
- Water in a Reusable Water Bottle
- Sturdy, closed-toe shoes
- A good hat
- Preferably light-weight long pants and/or long sleeves
- Sunscreen
- Bug spray
SACA will have bug spray and sunscreen on-hand, but please bring your own if you have preferences or allergies.
SACA will provide:
- Grabbers/tools
- Gloves
- Trash Bags
SACA will start the clean-up promptly at 9AM with a brief, but thorough, safety introduction before we walk to the creek. Please expect to participate the entire duration of the clean-up so that all people and tools can be accounted for at the end of the event.
You will be parking in the lot that is specific to the Greenbelt. This is a small lot off the frontage road just after the BMW Car Dealership. (It is somewhat confusing because it looks like it belongs to the dealership).

There is a small parking area on the North Side of the BMW Dealership. It will be the third driveway if you were going to that dealership. If you are on the frontage road and you go over the bridge, you have gone too far.
