MISSION

To feed people today, and end hunger tomorrow by inspiring and collaborating with our community.

VISION

A community free of hunger.

The Food Bank of Northwest Indiana relies on volunteers to help us address hunger in our community on a daily basis. Each year, more than 4,000 individuals, families, and groups, share their time and talents to assist with our hunger relief efforts throughout Lake and Porter Counties.  Each volunteer experience is unique and fulfilling for our volunteers, and makes a tremendous difference in the lives of the families we serve. The Food Bank of Northwest Indiana offers a number of dynamic and flexible volunteer opportunities for individuals or groups. We welcome ages as young as 8 years and older.  For every 5 children, at least 1 adult must be present. Regular volunteer shifts are available Monday – Friday (9am – 3pm). Below is a list of our current volunteer opportunities. Due to an abundance of caution, please follow the below COVID-19 guidelines when volunteering with the Food Bank of Northwest Indiana:

  • Masks are required, unless proof of completed vaccination is presented.
  • If individual is experiencing any symptoms of illness, return date is 10-days after being symptom-free (no fever, sore throat, headache, runny nose, etc.)
  • If individual tested positive for COVID-19, return date is 14-days after a negative COVID-19 test result.
  • If individual was a direct exposure to someone who tested positive for COVID-19, return date is 14-days after last interaction with the affected individual.
