About
We Walk PHL is for everyone! It's more than just a walk in the park. It's an experience! We Walk PHL seeks to promote positive health outcomes, increase the use of Philadelphia’s park system, and create opportunities for people to pursue fitness goals, educational adventures & wellness experiences while meeting their neighbors.
We Walk PHL is a free walking group that meets several times weekly at various public parks.
Launched as a pilot program in 2017, We Walk PHL is a partnership between Fairmount Park Conservancy, the Philadelphia Department of Public Health, and Philadelphia Parks and Recreation.
Walking group leaders are recruited while planning within a few months before each season from the communities surrounding the parks, (prioritizing underserved areas in Phila), and receive training & resources from We Walk program staff.
Walks take place one to three days per week at each site and last around an hour. Maintaining community connections in person and virtually in the We Walk PHL Facebook group page one post & one step at a time! Engage & get involved in ways you can. We build community through self-care, engagement, and evolving park stewardship.
For walk schedules, meeting locations, and other relevant updates, frequent the We Walk PHL public Facebook group page weekly. https://www.facebook.com/groups/wewalkPHL/
