About

Whether you're a returning volunteer or brand new, we’d love to have you join us this semester. Classes are typically held on weekdays between 3:30–6:00 PM at schools across Knoxville, TN.

Our Mission

At Little Chefs, Big Change, our mission is to get kids excited about food that’s good for both people and the planet. We do this by teaching fun, affordable, and plant-focused cooking—and by increasing access to healthy foods in schools and communities.

About Us

We bring engaging, hands-on programs to schools, camps, and community settings to inspire kids and their families to cook and eat healthier.

Our plant-centric, budget-friendly recipes are kid-approved and family-friendly. Through our programs, participants gain practical cooking skills and access to the resources they need to make lasting, healthy changes.

Volunteer with Us

Join us as a Cooking Class Volunteer and help bring the joy of healthy cooking to kids in after-school programs across Knoxville, TN.

You’ll work alongside our lead cooking instructor, other volunteers, and students—helping kids build confidence in the kitchen and explore nutritious, plant-based foods.

What You’ll Do:

During a typical class, volunteers may:

  • Support the lead instructor with cooking demonstrations and classroom management

  • Set up cooking stations and help clean up afterward

  • Assist students with washing, chopping, measuring, and preparing ingredients

  • Encourage student participation and teamwork

  • Ensure safety and proper use of kitchen tools

  • Introduce kids to new, plant-based ingredients

  • Model a positive, enthusiastic attitude

  • Adapt as needed to support the class and team
