More than a traditional parks and recreation department, the Athens-Clarke County Leisure Services Department maintains in excess of 2,500 acres of parks and 51 miles of trails.&nbsp; Additionally, the Department includes an art center, community centers, dance center, dog parks, historic vaudeville theatre, greenway, nature center,&nbsp; playgrounds, pools, splash pads, tennis centers, and even a zoo!&nbsp;&nbsp; Each year, hundreds of&nbsp; individuals volunteer throughout the Department enhancing programs and activities through their time and energy.&nbsp; Many of the events and programs would not be possible without the support of our volunteers.
