UT Microfarm Volunteering Sessions

Today I helped out preparing the childrens' garden by mixing dirt, pulling out weeds, and planting Spinach! It was nice volunteering in the cooler weather. Unfortunately I couldn't stay the full two hours due to a huge project load this weekend. However, I'm happy I got to work on the childrens' garden. I have a niece and I hope I helped contribute to that garden for children her age to learn about the joys of growing vegetables!

UT Microfarm Volunteering Sessions

This is my 3rd time volunteering for the UT Micro Farm and it's always an enjoyable experience. This time I helped clear out weeds in the front and move stones so the area could be improved and built upon for new crops! As we all know Texas Autumn starts pretty late, so it was quite hot but I still enjoyed being able to do my part to contribute to something even bigger. Gardening is very therapeutic so I can't wait to be able to volunteer again!

UT Microfarm Volunteering Sessions

Today I volunteered at the UT Micro farm! This is my second time working with them and it was a very fun and relaxing experience. UT Micro Farm has expanded because the Concho Community Garden was closed down and so my job for the day was to help created labels for the new plots reserved for the Community Garden specifically. I got to paint on wooden stakes and the experience was overall therapeutic. Although my major requires a lot of artwork, it was nice to create some for a good cause. I can't wait to volunteer again!

Project Work Day - Concho Community Garden - Saturdays

This event was very fun! I liked that we had many different options on what tasks we wanted to do. I'm very artsy so I was pretty excited when I got to paint on these boards they wanted to hang up! I had a rough week and I forgot how therapeutic/relaxing painting is. Everyone at this event was very friendly and explained our mission very clearly!

Prepare vegetables to improve health of community

This event was very relaxing, easy, and fun to attend. We cut vegetables to help cook meals that were going to be delivered. The staff was VERY friendly and even made us delicious tea. It felt nice helping out strangers and I would definitely do this again!

ULN End of the Year Community Service Holiday Event

This event was very satisfying because it felt good to be able to help out the homeless of Austin. There's something about helping others that gives me a fulfilling feeling. I wish we made more care packages since the event finished quite quickly. However, I was very grateful for the provided refreshments and being able to get to know some members of the ULN community. I hope if we do this event again next year that there will be more supplies to package and give out!

Our goal at this event was to hand out racer's numbers and give out shirts. On this day I had to scan and hand out bibs to the runners. It was very busy this day compared to Tuesday and I felt like I was working at a job. Overall I enjoyed my experience because the Division of Recreational Sports Intramurals was very kind and organized. It was nice seeing people's excited faces when I handed them their bibs.

Our goal at this event was to hand out racer's numbers and give out shirts. At first I had to give out shirts according to what the bib scanners shouted out. After the shifts officially changed I was switched to scanner. My job was to scan the runners' confirmation emails, scan them a bib, and redirect them to the shirt station. It wasn't too crowded since this day was for Nike Plus members only. Overall I enjoyed my experience because the Division of Recreational Sports Intramurals was very organized and easily trained me on what to do. It was nice seeing people's excited faces when I handed them their bibs.
