As a part of my fraternity we went to Woolridge Elementary School and set up and ran a field day for the elementary school kids. The kids that attend this elementary school come from families with economic hardships and we do the field day to give them an opportunity to have fun. We also use the field day as an opportunity to present them with a $5,000 donation that was raised at our annual Fight Night event. It was a really fun and rewarding to give bak to a local Austin elementary school because I like being involved in the community that I attend school in. It helped me see families from different economic backgrounds in the Austin area.
On Saturday, October 25th I went and volunteered with my pledge brothers cleaning up and restoring The Shoal Creek Running Trail that is frequently used by The University of Texas ROTC program as well as many of the students that attend The University of Texas. We picked up all of the trash that surrounded the trails as well as repaired some of the trails that were damaged. It was a cool experience getting to hangout with my friends as well as give back to the university I love.
