I helped out with gift box preparation for the Presidential Scholarship Gala. During this time, I aided in stuffing the boxes with confetti and placing candles inside.

I enjoyed this experience a lot. There was a lot of in-depth thinking that had me recognizing the faults in my current mindset, and thinking of ways to reinvent my thoughts toward myself, my purpose, and my future.
For the Emerging Leaders Retreat, I was in charge of keeping track of the attendance for both the students participating in the retreat, as well as the senior scholars, mentors, and other upperclassmen tasked with working the retreat. I also sat in for some of the seminars, offering my support to the freshman honors class.
I was able to complete my FAFSA before the month of October was over, and my class schedule was finished before November started as well. I am still waiting for approval from my advisor for my schedule. However, we worked on my schedule together so it should be approved soon.
This experience was very rewarding for me. I was able to acknowledge my “themes” and learn how to turn them into strengths. I felt very comfortable to share about myself in this environment.
During this experience, I was able to hear from some upperclassmen about their summer research experiences. I enjoyed this event a lot because I was able to hear students that share the same interests as me get opportunities that I would love to partake in. It makes it feel less impossible and gets me excited to apply for these opportunities.
During this experience, my group and I were tasked with designing and decorating a mobile thanksgiving basket to give to a family in need for the holidays. To prepare for this project, we brainstormed foods and other items that we thought the family would enjoy for Thanksgiving. Then, we each donated between $5-10 to put toward purchasing the stuff. Finally, we used class time to decorate the basket and put the items inside.
For this game, South Carolina State went up against North Carolina Central University. During this time, I was tasked with being a ball retriever. As a ball retriever, I had to hold a football for both teams and exchange them with the refs between plays. This experience was super fun and very exciting because I got to be on the field during the game with a front row seat. I would definitely sign up to do this again!
I volunteered from 10:30 am to 5:00 pm on October 15th, 2022, for the SC State vs. Virginia University-Lynchburg game. During this experience, my peers and I were tasked with checking in the families of the recruits for the opposing team in the building housing the old bookstore.
