Mural Painting @ Baton Roots Community Farm

UPDATE ON FRIDAY FEB 10TH: Unfortunately, we are cancelling tomorrow's volunteer event due to a weather forecast of light steady rain with occasional thunderstorms. We are SO sad to do this, and appreciate your willingness to come out and help us paint!  Baton Roots and BREC staff will be priming the fence throughout the week, and we plan to hold mural painting next weekend as planned. If you can come out on Saturday, Feb 18th (after the farmers market and before parades) we would love to see you then!  Baton Roots Community Farm at BREC Howell Community Park is adding murals to the utilityyard thanks to a public art grant from the National Endowment for the Arts, public art coordination by The Walls Project, and ongoing support/land stewardship by BREC. This mural willincorporate bright colors, food grown at the community farm, and Louisiana native plantsand animals.  The utility yard allows Baton Roots to store farming equipment onsite. It is also the home of our under-construction wash/pack station to prepare produce for distribution, and the future home of a hoop house for seedling production. The utility yard will allow Baton Roots too increase the amount of food grown and distributed at BREC Howell Park! It is also a great opportunity to add art to our collective space!  Saturday February 18, 2023: Mural painting  Shift 1: 10am-1pm Shift 2: 1pm-4pm  Please wear clothes you can paint in and bring any food/medicine/snacks you may need during your shift. Reach out to through the contact function of GivePulse if you have additional accommodations, considerations, and/or questions.
