River Rendezvous

Saturday, April 20th, 2024 from 9:00am to 1:00pm (ET)

About

After a brief orientation (coffee and light breakfast provided), volunteers in groups of 2 or 3 will drive to 2 stream sites in the Athens area. Volunteers will collect water samples and bring them back to Sandy Creek Nature Center for testing chemical and bacterial water quality. No experience needed. Just dress to get wet and dirty. Wearing rain boots or sturdy shoes is recommended.

This is a great way to gain some outdoor volunteer time and learn water quality testing procedures!

UOWN uses the information collected to track the health of our streams and detect water quality issues. The results are published on our website and are shared with local and state organizations.
