About
Hello Volunteers! We’d like to thank you for volunteering with Keep Austin Beautiful and Austin Rowing Club. You'll be working on giving some extra care to the lake and trails of our wonderful Lady Bird Lake. You have signed up to participate in the Austin Rowing Club cleanup. Kayaks are available via waterway registration but if you are uncomfortable going out on the water, we'll have you focus on litter abatement along the hike & bike trail.
Your Lake Leader for this site will be Aubrea Rudder with Austin Rowing Club and she will have your cleanup supplies, helpful safety guidelines, and further instructions for you.

“Know Before You Go”
Before you head out, please keep the following in mind:
- Per Texas State Law, life jackets are required for everyone on a watercraft. For all children 13 and under the life jacket must be worn at all times. For more information on boater safety, please look to TPWD.
- Be aware that toxic algae blooms can occur in Lady Bird Lake. Whenever you're around natural bodies of water, remain vigilant.
- Recognize that zebra mussels are invasive and widespread in Texas waterways. Let us know if you see any zebra mussels during your volunteer activity.
- Be able to identify poison ivy, oak, and sumac; identifying these plants is essential for a safe cleanup.
- Hydrate and take precautions to prevent heat-related illnesses. Consult this guide for tips on recognizing and addressing heat-related issues.
If you are no longer able to attend, please cancel your shift at your earliest convenience to re-open those spots for registration.
Thanks again for being involved in making Austin such a unique and beautiful place to live and experience! See you on the lake!

Hi. I received no response from the admin, so posting here.
I was hoping to do a lake cleanup event with my daughter, who is almost 5. I would like to sign up for this event, but I don't see a way to secure a spot for her as well without creating a GivePulse account for her.
I also wanted to inquire about whether it would be best to do a shoreline or waterway shift. I know she would be excited to go out on the water, but my priority is that she has a good experience helping with the cleanup. We do have a life jacket for her and can bring it. What do you advise?
