2026 Fall Dig-In Leader Training

Dig-In Leaders are Green Corn Project's most valuable contributors! The more Dig-In Leaders we have, the more people we can help. 

Green Corn Project is a local Austin-based nonprofit that has been educating and assisting Central Texans in growing organic food gardens since 1998. We have built over 200 organic food gardens at homes, schools, and community centers across the city, and these Dig-Ins are a primary way that we help others grow their own food. 

Dig-In Leaders provide needed support during our Dig-Ins, where their extra help allows us to serve more gardens each season. Volunteers who have joined us for previous Dig-Ins are encouraged to become a Dig-In Leader. Gardening experience is not required.

During this training, we will discuss all aspects of being a Dig-In Leader, from garden preparation and planting techniques to efficient management of volunteer groups. Once you've completed the training, you can register for a "Dig-In Leader" shift for the upcoming season. New Dig-In Leaders can accompany experienced leaders until they feel comfortable leading a group on their own.
