2026 Trips

  • Rio Grande Valley, TX: Housing and Community Care ($200 fee)
  • New Orleans, LA: Community Development and Sustainability ($350 fee) 
  • Corpus Christi, TX: Environmentalism and Sustainable Beach Efforts ($350 fee)

*Selected participants must help plan and execute fundraising activities to help fund the trip. Costs are reduced depending on individual fundraising efforts through the fall and spring semesters.

What is AB?

Alternative Breaks (AB) Participants attend a one-week, service-learning trip to one of four destinations. Service-learning involves transformative learning, consistent reflection, and meaningful community service. If accepted, participants agree to abide by all UT and AB policies and procedures.

Committments

*The following events are mandatory and your attendance will determine your eligibility in the program.

  • AB Orientation: Late November
  • Spring Meetings: WEDNESDAYS, 3-5pm
  • Participants are required to register for "LA 212C: Active Citizenship in Practice" (more information provided after application is submitted)

A $50 deposit will be due in December. This will go towards your total trip cost. Opportunities will be available for students with financial restrictions; please don't hesitate to reach out with questions.
