So this is a small activity, but it helps keep the University's campus clean and running smoothly. I was able to go to several Kiosks around campus and clean them up and around the area. I first did this project with APO and have loved doing it ever since. With the kiosks, we make sure that people are following the rules, such as, only 2 fliers per event, university related, and no staples. We makes sure that everyone has a fair chance of publicizing their event, it helps our Campus and it is easy to do!
I volunteered at UT explore this past Saturday with one of my groups, Mexican American Culture Committee! I help welcomed, give information packets, and direct our guests around the 40 acres. My group and I were stationed near the LBJ Library and we loved seeing all the school buses filled with excited children. We were basically the hype crew for UT explore. It was fun and I had a fantastic time welcoming the kids to our campus, especially when they would wave back and throw up the hook'em sign from inside the bus. Everyone was having a good time and it made me happy when the kids were ready to go out and explore all the events. I was amazed by the wide range of schools and by the amount of buses that were parked on our campus. This is my second year doing UT explore and I hope to do it again since this is one of my favorite events that UT does!
I joined APO in the Spring of 2015. I did around 30 different projects, such as Explore UT, SURE Walk, MBU, and Kiosk Clean up. My favorite project that I did several times was SURE Walk. It is a project where we receive calls from individuals on campus at night and help escort them home safely. Definitely a project that should be implemented across every college campus. APO is a great organization for service, friendship, and leadership. I got the chance to work with some amazing people, hone my leadership skills, and do various community projects. I enjoyed my time in APO and had a great experience with the organization!
I volunteered as a Trail ambassador and greatly enjoyed seeing all the families and the festivities as I was stationed at my location. I was in charge of making sure there were no incidents and reporting any mishaps.I loved helping and answering questions the people had and being able to enjoy the atmosphere. I will likely volunteer next year!
Great Opportunity! We had a wonderful time cleaning around the campus and bonding with our peers, so it was fun time. Not to mention, people actually noticed and told us that we were awesome for caring about our campus!
I participated with the Minority Women Pursuing Law group at UT as we headed to the Peter Pan mini golf course to help serve beer from 8-6:30. It was a benefit party for the people who contributed to the Equal Justice Center by buying unlimited amount of beer while they ate and played.
