Coming together with the Founders and Gibson Lead Hogs to serve and improve our campus community was a fun and rewarding experience! I am so grateful to Zero Hour for their partnership with our Lead Hogs, which provided education on environmental and climate justice that applied to our experience during the clean-up.
I really enjoyed shopping for items that I knew would help individuals receiving services at 7Hills. I know winter can be really difficult for individuals who are currently homeless, and am grateful for the opportunity to donate useful items that hopefully meet a need.
I really enjoyed making baby blankets. This event was super well-organized and fun!
Continuing to support and develop my friendship with my EMPOWER mentee this semester was an amazing experience!
My mentee through the EMPOWER program and I engaged in some social activities on campus to try to provide him with fun opportunities to build social skills. We went to a cookie decorating event on campus and then visited with other students when checking out the Southwest Classic trophy in the Arkansas Union.
On September 24, 2021, I picked my mentee through the EMPOWER program up from his dorm since his class was cancelled. We decided to try a different dining hall for lunch and I introduced him to one of my friends. We grabbed lunch and walked to the Greek theatre and had an outdoor picnic since the weather was so nice. It was a great time!
On September 17, 2021, I picked up my mentee from his class and we walked to the dining hall to eat lunch together. We talked about his family, his upcoming plans for the weekend, and how he was enjoying in his classes.
